Tungsten carbide sits at 9 on the Mohs hardness scale — one below diamond. The PVD finish is bonded at a molecular level, not plated on top. Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewellery — 9 on the Mohs scale, one step below diamond. It won’t scratch from everyday contact, won’t bend under pressure, and won’t tarnish from moisture or skin. The silver brushed finish is applied with PVD coating — a vapour deposition process that bonds at a molecular level rather than plating on top.
