Tungsten carbide sits at 9 on the Mohs hardness scale — one below diamond. The gunmetal grey PVD finish is bonded at a molecular level, not plated on top. Tungsten carbide is comparable in density to 18K gold. The Protector has a weight to it that you notice the moment you put it on — solid, substantial. Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewellery — 9 on the Mohs scale, one step below diamond. It won’t scratch from everyday contact, won’t bend under pressure, and won’t tarnish from moisture or skin.
The gunmetal grey finish is applied with PVD coating — a vapour deposition process that bonds colour at a molecular level rather than plating it on top. The same process is used on luxury watches. This is what keeps the colour consistent across both the 6mm and 8mm.
