Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewellery — 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, one step below diamond. The PVD finish bonds colour at a molecular level rather than plating it on top. It won’t scratch from everyday contact, won’t tarnish, and won’t react with skin.
